Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you want a code-configured SOL transfer and can provide a local keypair file and a suitable Solana RPC connection.
Who it is for
- Developers or operators comfortable configuring and running a Rust script.
- Users who need to send SOL from a locally stored wallet keypair to a chosen address.
- Builders adapting a basic SOL transfer script for deposit-transfer workflows.
Documented uses
- Send a configured amount of SOL to a recipient address.
- Check and display the sender wallet’s balance before attempting the transfer.
- Print a transaction signature after successful submission.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies an MIT license.
- The recipient address and transfer amount are edited in the script; the amount is specified in lamports.
- The README's sample RPC endpoint is local, and the URL must be changed to use a different cluster.
- The script reads a keypair file selected by SOLANA_KEYPAIR or defaults to ~/.config/solana/id.json.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Configure the sender keypair and transfer
Prepare the script’s sender keypair path, recipient address and transfer amount.
Before you start
- Rust with Cargo
- Solana CLI tools
- A Solana wallet with sufficient funds
- A keypair file
Steps
Set SOLANA_KEYPAIR to the keypair file path, or use the default ~/.config/solana/id.json path.
Edit the recipient address in the script.
Set the transfer amount in lamports.
Review the RPC URL configured in the script; the README gives a local endpoint example and describes changing it for another cluster.
Expected outcome
The script is configured with a sender keypair path, recipient, transfer amount and RPC endpoint.
Guide limitations
- This covers configuration only; it does not verify a successful transfer.
- The README's sample uses a local RPC endpoint unless changed.
