Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when a Solana application needs to translate between supported wallet names and addresses or display associated profile-picture results.

Who it is for

  • Developers building Solana wallets or dApps that display wallet names instead of raw addresses.
  • Teams adding wallet-name resolution, reverse lookup or profile-picture results to Solana interfaces.

Documented uses

  • Resolve a supported wallet name to a Solana address.
  • Look up a wallet name from an address where the naming service supports reverse mapping.
  • Retrieve an associated profile-picture result alongside a name or address lookup.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • The documented integration uses npm and requires a Solana Connection object.
  • Name-to-address and reverse-lookup coverage varies by service; Backpack has no reverse mapping in the README's table.
  • If an address has multiple names, only the first or main name is returned.
  • Names and profile pictures are not verified claims of a wallet holder's real-world identity.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up a wallet-name lookup

Prepare a TypeScript application to call the documented name-to-address and profile-picture lookup.

Before you start

  • A TypeScript project using npm
  • A Solana Connection object

Steps

  1. Install the package with npm i "@portal-payments/solana-wallet-names".

  2. Import walletNameToAddressAndProfilePicture from the package.

  3. Pass the Solana Connection object and a supported wallet name to the function.

Expected outcome

The documented result contains a wallet address and profile-picture URL; either or both may be null when no result is found.

Guide limitations

  • The README lists .abc, .backpack, .bonk, .glow, .poor and .sol as supported name inputs.
  • A Solana Connection object is required.
  • The returned name or picture does not verify real-world identity.
