EVM Indexer

EVM Indexer is a self-hosted Rust application that streams blockchain data from Envio HyperSync into ClickHouse for SQL-based analysis. Its fleet mode runs multiple chains in one process and includes a password-protected control panel.

Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when you need to operate your own HyperSync-to-ClickHouse pipeline and want blockchain data available for SQL analysis rather than rely on a prebuilt hosted explorer.

Who it is for

  • Teams operating their own blockchain data infrastructure for analysis.
  • Analysts and developers who want blockchain data in ClickHouse for SQL queries or custom dashboards.
  • Operators indexing HyperSync-supported EVM networks or Solana.

Documented uses

  • Ingest blockchain data from HyperSync into ClickHouse.
  • Run and manage indexing for multiple chains through a single fleet process.
  • Query indexed data with SQL and build analytics dashboards.
  • Create cross-network datasets for analysis.

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and licensed under MIT. The documented Docker setup requires Docker Compose v2.24 or later and an Envio HyperSync API token.

  • ClickHouse 25.x is a listed requirement, and operators provide its database endpoint.
  • The HyperSync API token is required; a JSON-RPC endpoint is optional for token and pool metadata.
  • Redis or Dragonfly is optional and can cache metadata across restarts.
  • Disk and memory needs vary with chain selection and retained history; Solana is described as particularly storage-intensive.
  • Remote control-panel access requires the documented tunnel or TLS reverse-proxy arrangement.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Start the Docker Compose fleet

Configure the documented Docker setup and launch its indexing fleet.

Before you start

  • Docker with Compose v2.24 or later
  • An Envio HyperSync API token
  • A control-panel password meeting the documented minimum of 12 characters

Steps

  1. Clone the repository, copy .env.example to .env, and set ENVIO_API_TOKEN and ADMIN_PASSWORD.

  2. Start the ClickHouse service with the command below.

    Documented command
    docker compose up -d clickhouse
  3. Launch the fleet with the command below and follow its logs.

    Documented command
docker compose up -d --build fleet
  4. Use the control panel at http://127.0.0.1:8090/ with the configured password.

Expected outcome

The fleet service runs the configured chains and provides a local control panel; the Compose configuration also exposes a Prometheus metrics endpoint.

Guide limitations

  • The Compose configuration initially selects Ethereum, Base and Solana; edit its chain list before first startup to choose different chains.
  • The panel binds to loopback by default. For access from another machine, the documentation describes an SSH tunnel or a TLS reverse proxy.
  • ClickHouse storage requirements depend on chains and retained history; the documentation recommends measuring actual usage.
