Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when implementing Solana wallet interactions in a Rust WebAssembly application and the documented wallet and framework options match the project.

Who it is for

  • Rust developers building WebAssembly applications with Yew, Dioxus or Leptos.
  • Teams adding Solana wallet connection and signing or transaction actions to a browser-based app.

Documented uses

  • Offer users selected Solana wallet options in a WebAssembly application.
  • Connect and disconnect wallets through reusable adapter components.
  • Add sign-in, message-signing, transaction-signing and transaction-sending capabilities.
  • Respond to wallet events to update interface state or trigger app actions.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and identifies the library as MIT-licensed. Its README lists Rust 1.75 or later and describes the project as work in progress.

  • The documented framework examples cover Yew, Dioxus and Leptos.
  • The README lists Phantom, Solflare and Backpack, with selectable wallets in the provider setup.
  • Listed actions include connection, disconnection, sign-in, message signing, transaction signing and transaction sending.
  • The project is explicitly marked work in progress; review its repository examples against the intended implementation.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up wallet providers in a Yew app

Configure the documented connection and wallet providers around a Yew app and select wallets for its login interface.

Before you start

  • A Rust WebAssembly application using Yew.
  • Wasi Sol and Rust 1.75 or later.
  • A Solana endpoint to pass to the connection provider.
  • Wallets to enable from the documented Phantom, Solflare and Backpack options.

Steps

  1. Wrap the main Yew App component with ConnectionProvider, passing the Solana endpoint.

  2. Nest WalletProvider inside it and pass the selected wallets.

  3. Use the wallet hook in a page component to obtain an adapter for each selected wallet.

  4. Pass the chosen adapters to the reusable LoginForm component; use None for a wallet to disable it in that form.

Expected outcome

The Yew app is configured with the selected wallet adapters and a reusable connect/disconnect form component.

Guide limitations

  • The repository describes Wasi Sol as work in progress.
  • The example documents Yew setup; it does not establish compatibility with every wallet or application configuration.
