Practical overview
When it fits
Use Wagyu when building a Rust application or command-line workflow that needs wallet generation or import for one of the supported ecosystems; check the relevant module for chain-specific formats and options.
Who it is for
- Rust developers adding wallet generation or import to a cryptocurrency application.
- Developers who need a command-line utility for wallet generation across supported ecosystems.
Documented uses
- Generate cryptocurrency wallets, including hierarchical deterministic wallets where supported.
- Import standard or hierarchical deterministic wallets through documented workflows.
- Build wallet functions into a Rust application using Wagyu modules.
- Extend wallet support by implementing the project’s wallet model for another cryptocurrency.
Requirements & limits
The project is published as open source under Apache-2.0 in repository metadata; the README displays MIT/Apache-2.0 license information.
- Wagyu is a library and CLI for developers, not a hosted wallet application.
- Wallet models and options differ by cryptocurrency; verify the specific module’s support before adopting it.
- The README documents wallet generation commands and identifies import and HD import workflows, but implementation details should be checked in the relevant module documentation.
- The project uses Rust; the repository lists Linux, macOS and Windows as platforms.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Generate cryptocurrency wallets with the Wagyu CLI
Generate Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, or Zcash wallets using Wagyu’s documented command-line interface.
Before you start
- Wagyu CLI is available to run.
Steps
Choose a supported cryptocurrency: bitcoin, ethereum, monero, or zcash.
Run
wagyu [CRYPTOCURRENCY] [FLAGS] [OPTIONS], replacing[CRYPTOCURRENCY]with the selected currency.Optionally use the documented currency-specific flags and options, such as
--jsonor a supported network, format, or count.
Expected outcome
Wagyu generates wallet output for the selected cryptocurrency; JSON output and other documented options can be requested where supported.
Guide limitations
- Available options differ by cryptocurrency; consult its documented options before using them.
- The source does not document wallet security procedures or integration into an application.
