Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when you already work with the Pi Coding Agent and want to choose add-ons for a particular coding, research, browser-automation or workflow need.

Who it is for

  • Pi Coding Agent users seeking specific capabilities without installing every extension.
  • Developers who want to build or adapt reusable extensions for Pi workflows.

Documented uses

  • Add language-server diagnostics and code actions to coding sessions.
  • Select project-file lines or Git diff hunks and attach snapshots to a prompt.
  • Organize multi-step work with goal-oriented workflows or Git worktrees.
  • Install selected extensions individually or load selected entrypoints from the full repository.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and identifies its license as MIT. Published packages use the @narumitw npm scope; package READMEs identify source-only exceptions.

  • Published npm packages can be installed individually; the repository can also be installed from GitHub as one Pi package.
  • A GitHub repository install enables all listed extensions unless a resource filter selects specific entrypoints.
  • Some packages and integrations are explicitly described as experimental.
  • The README says extensions run with full user permissions and recommends reviewing third-party extensions before installation.
  • Local development uses the Node.js version specified in .node-version with its bundled npm.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Install one published extension in Pi

Add a selected npm-published extension to a Pi Coding Agent setup, permanently or for a temporary session.

Before you start

  • Pi Coding Agent CLI
  • The extension's published npm package name

Steps

  1. For a permanent install, run pi install npm:@narumitw/pi-goal (the documented example).

  2. To try an extension without adding it permanently, use pi -e npm:@narumitw/pi-statusline (the documented example).

  3. To load several for a session, repeat -e with each package, as shown for pi-goal, pi-statusline and pi-lsp.

Expected outcome

The selected extension or extensions are available to Pi through the chosen install or session-loading route.

Guide limitations

  • The examples cover specific packages; package READMEs identify source-only exceptions.
  • Extensions run with full user permissions; the README advises reviewing an extension before installing it from a third party.
Source-based practical guide

Install the repository and filter enabled extensions

Install the GitHub repository as a Pi package, then configure a resource filter to load selected extension entrypoints.

Before you start

  • Pi Coding Agent CLI
  • The repository source git:github.com/narumiruna/pi-extensions

Steps

  1. Install the repository with pi install git:github.com/narumiruna/pi-extensions.

  2. In ~/.pi/agent/settings.json, replace the installed package entry with a packages entry for that source and an extensions list containing selected paths, such as packages/pi-accounts/src/index.ts.

  3. Restart Pi or run /reload after changing the filter.

  4. To update the checkout later, run pi update --extensions.

Expected outcome

The repository is installed as a Pi package, with the configured filter selecting extension entrypoints instead of enabling every extension.

Guide limitations

  • The repository root manifest enables all extensions unless a resource filter is configured.
  • Filters require resource paths relative to the repository root and an extension entrypoint; a package directory alone is insufficient.
