Practical overview
When it fits
Use Llmdog when a code question needs project-specific context and you want to select the relevant files, copy them as a structured Markdown bundle, and paste that bundle into an LLM chat.
Who it is for
- Developers preparing targeted code context for an LLM conversation.
- Teams or individuals seeking code review, debugging, refactoring or implementation suggestions from a chat-based LLM.
Documented uses
- Choose relevant files without sharing an entire codebase.
- Package selected code and project structure in Markdown for a chat.
- Keep Gitignored paths out of the selected context.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and identifies the project license as MIT. The README documents building from source with Go 1.16 or newer recommended, and Homebrew installation on macOS.
- The interactive terminal interface supports selection, folder expansion, filtering and preview.
- Generated Markdown includes a directory tree and syntax highlighting based on file extensions.
- Gitignore-aware selection excludes paths listed in the project's
.gitignore. - The documented workflow copies context to the clipboard for pasting into a separate chat interface.
- The README documents Go-based source builds and a Homebrew route for macOS.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
