Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you want to run the documented NLP functions as a Dockerized service and make HTTP requests to them from your application.
Who it is for
- Developers integrating text analysis into server-side applications.
- Teams that want to run NLP endpoints in a Docker container and call them over HTTP.
Documented uses
- Parse sentences into structured linguistic information.
- Analyze sentiment and subjectivity and classify sentence types.
- Extract named entities and relations from text.
- Resolve pronouns and other references to nouns.
- Look up definitions, synonyms, examples, usage frames, and hypernyms for words.
Requirements & limits
- The quickstart maps the service to port 8080 and demonstrates a request to the parse endpoint.
- The README identifies spaCy for parsing, WordNet for word lookup, and neuralcoref for coreference resolution.
- The documented routes include parsing, word lookup, and coreference; model details also describe sentiment, entity extraction, sentence types, and relation extraction.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Start the Dockerized NLP service
Run Languagecrunch locally with its documented HTTP service listening on port 8080.
Before you start
- Docker
Steps
Pull and run the image with the command below.
docker run -it -p 8080:8080 artpar/languagecrunchSend a URL-encoded sentence to
http://localhost:8080/nlp/parse?sentence=.
Expected outcome
A local Languagecrunch service is listening on port 8080, and the parse endpoint can be called with a sentence.
Guide limitations
- The documented quickstart covers running the container and an example parse request; it does not describe production deployment.
