Practical overview

When it fits

Use Jobpilot when repetitive job-board searches, application forms, tailored materials and follow-up messages make a browser-based workflow worthwhile. It is also suited to users who want to observe or review actions performed in a browser logged in as them.

Who it is for

  • Job seekers applying across multiple online boards.
  • Applicants who need listing-specific resumes, cover letters and screening responses.
  • Users managing recruiter outreach and application follow-ups.
  • Technical users who already work with Claude Code or Codex and want a local browser-driven workflow.

Documented uses

  • Search and score job listings against a resume.
  • Tailor resumes and generate cover letters for individual postings.
  • Complete multi-step application forms and submit applications within configured limits.
  • Draft recruiter or hiring-manager messages and connect replies to applications.
  • Track application stages and export versioned resumes to PDF.

Requirements & limits

The documented setup requires a Claude Code or Codex subscription and Node.js 22 or later. Jobpilot is public-source software under the MIT license; the setup flow also creates an account on its dashboard.

  • It uses a real browser on the user’s machine rather than describing an API-only workflow.
  • Claude Code or Codex is part of the documented runtime and subscription model.
  • Users can set campaign limits and review matches before applying.
  • Recruiter sends require approval, while Gmail can be used to read and match replies.
  • Playwright is referenced in the repository topics, but support for an alternative browser driver is Experimental.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up JobPilot for browser-based job applications

Prepare JobPilot to search job boards and handle applications in a browser signed in as you.

Before you start

  • A Claude Code or Codex subscription.
  • A computer with a browser.

Steps

  1. Tell JobPilot what kind of job you want.

  2. Sign in to the relevant job boards in the browser on your computer.

  3. Review job matches and choose jobs to apply to, or set a limit for the agent to work through a list.

Expected outcome

JobPilot can search job boards, score jobs against your resume, tailor application materials, and fill and send applications for selected jobs or a list up to the limit you set.

Guide limitations

  • The documented workflow operates in a normal browser window on your computer, signed in as you.
  • The README does not provide detailed installation or configuration steps.
