Documented uses
- Develop a story brief into settings, characters, outlines and chapter plans.
- Draft, review and revise fiction while keeping story context organized.
- Explore alternative plot branches before choosing a direction.
- Create short fiction, scripts, storyboards or interactive worlds.
- Translate long-form creative content.
Requirements & limits
The documented CLI installation requires Node.js 22.16 or later. The project is open source under AGPL-3.0.
- The project documents Studio, TUI and CLI as separate ways to interact with the same creative system.
- Studio supports Moonshot (Kimi); the documentation also describes configurable model-provider services and routing.
- Model access and credentials require provider configuration; installing the package alone does not configure a model.
- The codebase is TypeScript and uses the AGPL-3.0 license.
- The project has distinct workflows for long-form fiction, short stories, scripts, interactive content and translation.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
