Practical overview
When it fits
Use IBAX when you need a self-hosted blockchain foundation and want application logic, data structures and interfaces within the platform's native system framework.
Who it is for
- Developers building decentralized applications
- Teams operating a custom blockchain network
- Builders exploring cross-chain transaction or decentralized-exchange applications
Documented uses
- Compile the blockchain system from source
- Configure and initialize a blockchain node
- Generate node keys and a first block for a new network
- Build applications using smart contracts, database tables and interfaces
Requirements & limits
The source is publicly available on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. The documented build process requires Go 1.17 or higher.
- It is self-hosted rather than presented as a hosted application service.
- The build and initialization workflow is command-line based and requires Go 1.17 or higher.
- The platform combines blockchain node operation with smart-contract, database-table and interface capabilities.
- Creating a new network requires the documented --test=true option during first-block generation.
- The available material does not specify production hardware, network configuration or application implementation examples.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Build and initialize an IBAX blockchain node
Compile go-ibax and prepare a new blockchain network through the repository's documented initialization stages.
Before you start
- Go 1.17 or higher
- A command-line, self-hosted server environment
- The public go-ibax repository
Steps
Set up Go and add Go's binary directories to the PATH.
Set GOPROXY, run go mod tidy -v with modules enabled, and run go build.
Create the node configuration with go-ibax config.
Generate node keys with go-ibax generateKeys.
For a new blockchain network, generate the first block with go-ibax generateFirstBlock --test=true, initialize the database with go-ibax initDatabase, and start the node with go-ibax start.
Expected outcome
A compiled IBAX node is configured, initialized and started through the documented command sequence.
Guide limitations
- The source does not specify production hardware, network configuration or operating-system support beyond the documented command-line setup.
- This guide describes the repository's setup sequence and is not a verification of successful execution.
