Practical overview
When it fits
Use the node repository when you need to operate or develop against Hypersign's blockchain and its identity registry, rather than seeking a standalone identity application.
Who it is for
- Developers building self-sovereign identity applications that need DID lifecycle or credential-registry operations.
- Node operators and developers exploring or running the Hypersign blockchain.
- Network participants using staking, governance, IBC transfers or CosmWasm deployment functions.
Documented uses
- Register, update or deactivate DID documents on the network.
- Store or update credential schemas and verifiable-credential status.
- Run a local single-node setup or start the node in Docker.
- Use the node for staking, governance proposals, IBC transfers or CosmWasm contract deployment.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under Apache-2.0. Its README documents local-binary and Docker node setup.
- The node is built with the Cosmos SDK and describes compatibility with W3C DID specifications.
- The local binary setup requires Go 1.21, make and jq.
- The Docker instructions start a single node and publish port mappings for that container.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a local single-node network
Install the node binary and start the documented local single-node blockchain.
Before you start
- Go version 1.21
- make
- jq
Steps
Clone the hid-node repository and change into its directory.
Run make install to install the binary.
Run bash ./scripts/localnet-single-node/setup.sh to set up the single-node blockchain.
Start the node with hid-noded start.
Expected outcome
A local hid-noded single-node blockchain is started.
Guide limitations
- This guide covers the documented local single-node setup, not joining or validating on a public network.
Start a node using Docker
Run the documented hid-node Docker container.
Before you start
- Docker
Steps
Pull ghcr.io/hypersign-protocol/hid-node:latest.
Run the container with the documented port mappings and hid-node start command.
Expected outcome
The Docker container starts a hid-node process.
