Practical overview
When it fits
Use its documentation and examples to understand or maintain an existing Framework Kit integration. For a new project, account for the repository's warning that the framework is no longer maintained and review its named successor options.
Who it is for
- Developers building TypeScript applications that interact with Solana.
- React developers who want hooks and a provider for wallet connection, balance queries and transactions.
Documented uses
- Discover and connect browser wallet extensions from a dApp interface.
- Fetch balances and keep account data refreshed.
- Send SOL transfers or work with custom transactions.
Requirements & limits
- The project is no longer maintained, which is important when selecting a framework for new development.
- The client package can be used with React or standalone; React-specific provider and hooks are supplied separately.
- The quick start configures a Solana RPC endpoint and discovers installed browser wallet extensions.
- The repository describes automatic refresh for balance and account data, alongside hooks for transfers and custom transactions.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up wallet discovery in a React app
Configure the documented React provider and render connection controls for detected browser wallets.
Before you start
- A TypeScript React application
- The @solana/client and @solana/react-hooks packages
- A Solana wallet extension in the browser for the connection flow
- A Solana RPC endpoint; the quick start uses devnet
Steps
Install @solana/client and @solana/react-hooks with npm.
Create a client with createClient, setting an RPC endpoint and walletConnectors: autoDiscover().
Wrap the application with SolanaProvider and pass it the client.
Use useWalletConnection to display detected connectors and call connect for a selected connector.
Expected outcome
The documented example renders controls for detected wallet extensions and lets a user initiate a connection.
Guide limitations
- Framework Kit is no longer maintained; its repository directs new projects to Kit plugins or Solana Kit.
- In Next.js, components using these hooks must be marked with 'use client'.
- This guide covers the setup and connection example, not a complete application or deployment.
Compare options for Wallet connections
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
