Practical overview

When it fits

Use it after or during an agentic coding task when a review, repair, and recheck cycle is useful. Its documented invocation accepts a provider, an optional project target, and a goal containing the desired result, constraints, and success checks.

Who it is for

  • Developers using supported coding agents
  • Teams adding automated review and repair stages to agentic coding tasks
  • Builders seeking a CLI-based quality gate before accepting generated code

Documented uses

  • Review an agent’s completed coding work
  • Repair issues detected during review
  • Recheck the repaired result
  • Add iterative verification to supported coding-agent workflows

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and identifies an MIT license. Installation is documented through an npm package URL or from source. The requirements include Node.js 20+, Python 3.11+ with PyYAML, and Bash 4.3+ on macOS or Linux.

  • Supported integrations include Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Kilo Code, VS Code, Prime Agent, Oh My Pi, DeepSeek Harness, Reasonix, Hermes Agent and Grok Build.
  • The listed provider versions passed Linux runs, while model and platform availability varies by provider.
  • A measured OpenCode Terminal-Bench 2.1 run reported 73 of 89 tasks solved with Autoprompt versus 60 of 89 without it.
  • The project describes an expected increase in time and token use; those figures are planning estimates rather than measured benchmark results.
  • The evidence does not establish compatibility outside the documented provider list and custom-agent guidance.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
