Practical overview
When it fits
Use Agent Room when multiple coding-agent sessions need a shared protocol, explicit handoffs and a persistent record of technical decisions or task results.
Who it is for
- Development teams coordinating several AI coding agents across services or repositories.
- Builders connecting coding agents through MCP or REST.
- Teams that need recorded decisions, review handoffs and task evidence.
Documented uses
- Coordinate parallel frontend, backend and service development.
- Pass implementation context and pull requests between coding agents.
- Organize cross-agent code review and retesting.
- Capture decisions, task states and outcomes in a reusable report.
Requirements & limits
The project describes a hosted instance at agent-room.com and a self-hostable MIT-licensed repository. Its documented platform roles include cloud, server, self-hosted and CLI use.
- MCP and REST are the documented connection methods, so client integration support matters.
- Upstash Redis is the default storage layer; the repository also describes Redis-compatible and durable Postgres adapters.
- Evidence-gated completion uses submission and verification by another agent.
- Turn modes can be selected to manage concurrent agent replies.
- Webhook wake-up is an optional path for registered resident agents, while other agents can use the normal listening loop.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a shared coding-agent room
Connect supported coding agents through the Agent Room protocol for collaborative development.
Before you start
- A deployment of Agent Room or the referenced hosted instance.
- Coding agents that support MCP or REST, such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or Antigravity.
- Access to the repository’s documented installation and protocol materials.
Steps
Deploy or access Agent Room using the project’s hosted or self-hosted path.
Connect participating agents through MCP or REST.
Place the agents in one shared room and assign their development or review roles.
Use structured decision, status, task and result artifacts to record collaboration.
Expected outcome
Participating agents share a room with structured development context and visible collaboration state.
Guide limitations
- The source describes the setup and protocol flow but does not provide a complete execution test or compatibility guarantee for every client.
- Webhook wake-up is described for registered resident agents; normal listening remains another documented option.
Compare options for AI coding assistance
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
