Doorman

Doorman is a Solana program for selling a custom SPL token for a configured amount of SOL. In a candy-machine whitelist setup, an allowed address buys the token and uses it to access a candy machine configured to accept that token instead of SOL; the address is then removed from the whitelist.

Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when an NFT candy machine should accept a custom SPL token obtained through a paid whitelist rather than a direct SOL payment.

Who it is for

  • Solana developers building a paid whitelist step into an NFT candy-machine workflow.
  • Operators who want to sell custom SPL tokens for SOL as a standalone mechanism.

Documented uses

  • Set a whitelist, go-live date, SOL price, and payment treasury for token purchases.
  • Let an eligible address pay SOL to receive a token accepted by a configured candy machine.
  • Connect whitelist-address management with an NFT mint workflow.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • Doorman sells the gate token; the candy machine is configured separately to accept it.
  • The repository's documented deployed version is not reflected in master.
  • The README gives different whitelist-capacity figures: up to 1,111 entries for the deployed version and around 300 in its TODO notes.
  • The documented implementation uses Anchor and includes a local validator workflow as well as devnet candy-machine setup.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Configure the documented devnet whitelist flow

Prepare a custom SPL token and connect Doorman to a candy machine that accepts the token for NFT minting.

Before you start

  • A Solana devnet setup and the Anchor and SPL Token command-line tools referenced by the repository.
  • A candy machine configured to accept the custom mint and its token account.
  • The appropriate cluster and authority/keypair configured in Anchor.toml.

Steps

  1. Create a zero-decimal token mint, create its token account, and mint tokens into that account.

  2. Configure the candy machine with the mint and token account; record its ID and config address.

  3. Set the documented candy-machine and treasury values in the Doorman .env file, then initialize Doorman with anchor run initialize and record its config and whitelist account addresses.

  4. Add whitelist addresses using addy.txt and anchor run add-addresses, set the app config to devnet, and start the app with yarn start.

Expected outcome

The documented app flow lets an eligible address purchase a mint token with SOL and then use it to mint an NFT through the configured candy machine.

Guide limitations

  • The repository says the deployed program version is not reflected in the master branch.
  • The README reports different whitelist-size figures for the deployed version and its TODO notes; confirm the applicable limit before relying on it.
  • The setup depends on a separately configured candy machine and token accounts.
