Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when designing or learning from a Solana auction flow in which bidders deposit fungible tokens and the highest bidder receives the NFT after the deadline.
Who it is for
- Solana developers learning how to structure an on-chain NFT auction.
- Builders exploring escrow-based auctions with fungible-token deposits.
Documented uses
- Study an auction flow that holds a listed NFT and the current token bid in escrow.
- Understand rules for higher bids, deposit returns, deadlines, cancellation and settlement.
- Prepare the example program and participant accounts for local development.
Requirements & limits
- The program is written in Rust and targets Solana.
- Bids must exceed the current bid and cannot be placed after the auction expires.
- The highest bidder's tokens go to the exhibitor when the NFT is transferred after the deadline.
- Cancellation is restricted to the exhibitor and is unavailable once a bid has been placed.
- The repository describes local validator setup and wallet and token-account preparation.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Prepare the local auction example
Build the Solana program, start the local validator and prepare the example wallets and token accounts.
Before you start
- Prior knowledge of the Solana Cookbook
- Familiarity with escrow concepts
- The repository's program and scripts
Steps
From the program directory, run the command below.
cargo build-bpfFrom the scripts directory, run the command below.
npm run setup-validator ../program/target/deploy/solana_auction.soRun the command below to create the exhibitor and bidder wallets and the FT and NFT token accounts.
npm run setup
Expected outcome
A locally prepared example with a built program, validator setup and participant accounts.
Guide limitations
- This covers preparation only; the repository describes separate exhibit and bidding stages.
- The recipe names Solana Cookbook and escrow knowledge as prerequisites.
