Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Bitcoin mobile-wallet workflow with local transaction signing, HD addresses and multisignature support fits the task, or when reviewing the documented Cordova implementation.
Who it is for
- Bitcoin users seeking a mobile app for sending and receiving BTC.
- Developers examining or building a Cordova-based Bitcoin wallet.
Documented uses
- Send and receive Bitcoin, including through contacts or QR-scanned Bitcoin URIs.

- Sign transactions locally and use the wallet’s 2-of-3 multisignature design.
- Review balances and transaction history.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under AGPL-3.0. The README documents iOS and Android app setup and run commands.
- The README describes transactions as signed locally on the device.
- The wallet combines HD address generation with 2-of-3 multisignature support.
- The documented application stack is JavaScript, Ionic and Cordova.
- The repository includes instructions for initializing a separate translations submodule.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up and run the mobile app from source
Install the documented Ionic and Cordova dependencies, prepare the project, and run it on Android or iOS.
Before you start
- Node.js and npm
- The Blocktrail Wallet repository
- Git, for initializing the translations submodule
- An Android or iOS target supported by the documented Cordova run command
Steps
Install the documented global tools: Ionic 4.3.1, Cordova 8.1.2 and Gulp, using the README’s npm commands.
From the repository, run npm install and initialize the translations submodule with git submodule update --init --recursive.
Copy appconfig.example.json to appconfig.json, then run gulp.
Run ionic cordova run android or ionic cordova run ios.
Expected outcome
The README’s setup and run sequence prepares the app and starts it for the selected Android or iOS platform.
Guide limitations
- The README notes that npm_config_engine_strict=false is required for its documented dependency installation.
- The repository instructions do not establish that the process works with other dependency versions or current platform tooling.
