  • Draft, review and revise fiction while keeping story context organized.
  • Explore alternative plot branches before choosing a direction.
  • Create short fiction, scripts, storyboards or interactive worlds.
  • Translate long-form creative content.

Requirements & limits

The documented CLI installation requires Node.js 22.16 or later. The project is open source under AGPL-3.0.

  • The project documents Studio, TUI and CLI as separate ways to interact with the same creative system.
  • Studio supports Moonshot (Kimi); the documentation also describes configurable model-provider services and routing.
  • Model access and credentials require provider configuration; installing the package alone does not configure a model.
  • The codebase is TypeScript and uses the AGPL-3.0 license.
  • The project has distinct workflows for long-form fiction, short stories, scripts, interactive content and translation.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
