Superbank

Superbank is a Rust workspace for ingesting Solana ledger data into ClickHouse and serving Solana-compatible JSON-RPC endpoints backed by that data. It also contains tools to archive and restore ClickHouse data through Parquet and validate historical Proof-of-History and post-genesis Alpenglow entry chains.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Superbank when you need to operate your own Solana ledger ingestion and ClickHouse-backed JSON-RPC pipeline, or need its adjacent archive and entry-validation utilities.

Who it is for

  • Operators building self-hosted Solana ledger and RPC infrastructure.
  • Teams that need to move ledger data from supported Solana sources into ClickHouse.
  • Data operators who need Parquet archive, restore or ledger-entry validation tools.

Documented uses

  • Ingest ledger data from Yellowstone Fumarole, Yellowstone gRPC, Solana JSON-RPC getBlock, or Solana Bigtable.
  • Store blocks and transactions in ClickHouse and expose compatible JSON-RPC backed by that data.
  • Archive ClickHouse table bundles to Parquet, inspect or read archives from local files or S3, and restore them to ClickHouse.
  • Validate historical Proof-of-History and post-genesis Alpenglow entry chains over stored data.

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and declares the AGPL-3.0-only license. The documented stack is server-side and self-hosted.

  • The primary storage layer is ClickHouse, and the documented local setup requires creating schemas before ingestion.
  • Ingestion supports Yellowstone Fumarole, Yellowstone gRPC, Solana JSON-RPC getBlock, and Solana Bigtable.
  • Parquet reading supports local files or S3; restoration returns archives to ClickHouse.
  • Optional RPC features include an in-memory gRPC head cache and a separate localhost ClickHouse forward cache.
  • The project is licensed under AGPL-3.0-only.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Prepare local ClickHouse tables for Superbank

Start a local ClickHouse instance and apply the documented local schemas needed to prepare the database for ingestion.

Before you start

  • Docker
  • The Superbank repository, including its ddl/local schema files

Steps

  1. Start the local ClickHouse container using the repository's quick-start configuration.

  2. Apply ddl/local/transactions.sql, followed by blocks_metadata.sql and entries.sql.

  3. Apply gsfa.sql and signatures.sql; apply token_owner_activity.sql only if tokenAccounts filters are needed for getTransactionsForAddress.

Expected outcome

A local ClickHouse instance has the documented tables prepared for the selected ingestion and query needs.

Guide limitations

  • The quick-start default-user setting is explicitly for local development and should not be used for production ClickHouse.
  • This recipe covers database preparation only; it does not configure or run the ingestor or RPC server.
