BINIUS64

BINIUS64 is a Rust-implemented zero-knowledge succinct argument system that generates proofs for arbitrary computations represented as non-deterministic circuits over 64-bit words. Its constraint system natively encodes bitwise operations with shifted value indices and uses binary-field arithmetic, with a focus on CPU performance.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when a Rust project needs proof generation for computations naturally represented over 64-bit words, especially circuits with substantial bitwise processing.

Who it is for

  • Rust developers building zero-knowledge proof applications
  • Cryptography researchers exploring binary-field zk-SNARK systems
  • Teams working with bitwise-heavy computations over 64-bit words

Documented uses

  • Generate zero-knowledge proofs for arbitrary 64-bit-word computations
  • Represent bitwise operations in a circuit-oriented proving system
  • Run and adapt documented example circuits through the project CLI
  • Control proof-generation parallelism for development or profiling

Requirements & limits

The repository is public and identified as open source. Its metadata lists an MIT license; the implementation source also presents dual Apache-2.0 or MIT licensing.

  • Rust and Cargo are required for the documented setup.
  • The system targets 64-bit CPUs and documents native CPU optimizations.
  • Rayon multithreading is always enabled; worker count can be adjusted with RAYON_NUM_THREADS or CPU affinity.
  • The examples CLI provides one subcommand per example circuit, including a SHA-512 preimage proof.
  • Variable-length SHA-512 proving uses a build-time capacity with runtime message length bounded by that capacity.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up and run the documented SHA-512 example

Build BINIUS64 and invoke its SHA-512 preimage proving example for a fixed-length message.

Before you start

  • Rust compiler and Cargo installed through rustup
  • A checkout of the BINIUS64 repository
  • A modern 64-bit CPU; the project documents native target optimizations

Steps

  1. Set RUSTFLAGS to use the native CPU target.

  2. Run the release binius-examples command for the SHA-512 circuit with the documented fixed message length.

  3. Review the documented stages: circuit building, setup, witness generation and proof generation.

Expected outcome

The example workflow invokes BINIUS64's SHA-512 preimage proving circuit for the selected fixed-length message.

Guide limitations

  • The documented example uses a fixed-length message and does not establish performance on other hardware or circuits.
  • The source describes the workflow and example output but does not constitute an independent execution test.
