Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Codex coding session would benefit from ChatGPT-based planning or review and the documented local bridge setup fits the development environment.
Who it is for
- Developers using Codex for repository changes
- Users with a ChatGPT web subscription who want ChatGPT to support planning and code review
- Developers interested in a local MCP-based bridge between a coding agent and ChatGPT
Documented uses
- Generate planning input for Codex coding sessions
- Obtain review input during repository work
- Let Codex execute changes while ChatGPT supplies high-level reasoning
- Configure a ChatGPT connector for a Codex workspace
Requirements & limits
The repository is public, open source and licensed under MIT. The documented setup uses ChatGPT sign-in and may involve Cloudflare authentication for a stable hostname.
- It uses the ChatGPT web interface rather than a demonstrated provider-agnostic model layer.
- The bridge is described as read-only and OAuth-protected.
- Codex remains responsible for executing repository changes.
- Node.js 20 or later, Git, cloudflared and Corepack pnpm are part of the documented setup.
- A temporary Cloudflare address is used by default; a stable hostname requires an existing Cloudflare-managed domain.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install and configure the Codex Skill
Build the repository, install its Codex Skill, and configure the ChatGPT connector.
Before you start
- Git
- Node.js 20 or later
- cloudflared
- Corepack pnpm

c2c setupand configure the ChatGPT connector in the built-in browser using the pairing code.
Expected outcome
The Codex Skill is installed and the ChatGPT connector is configured for the workspace.
Guide limitations
- The documented process may require ChatGPT login, CAPTCHA or two-factor authentication.
- A new workspace requires a ChatGPT Project with project-only memory.
- A stable hostname additionally requires a Cloudflare account and a domain already on Cloudflare.
