Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when developing a Rust HTTP API that needs Solana USDC payments for protected content and you want a framework-specific starting template.
Who it is for
- Rust developers building HTTP APIs with paid access to content or data.
- Teams that want to add x402 payment handling to routes using Axum, Actix or Rocket.
Documented uses
- Create a Rust API server with an x402 payment flow for Solana.
- Gate selected endpoints behind USDC payments while retaining free endpoints.
- Configure a receiving wallet, network, price and facilitator.
- Use the documented payment-verification pattern when adding protected routes.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and lists an MIT license. The documented server setup uses Rust and Cargo; its project generator uses npx.
- Select among Axum, Actix and Rocket implementations.
- Set the required
RECEIVER_WALLET_ADDRESS; the documented network setting defaults to devnet and lists mainnet as an option. - The example payment flow relies on a facilitator to verify and settle transactions.
- The repository includes a web testing frontend as well as health, free and USDC-protected example endpoints.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a Rust server project with x402
Generate a project, choose a framework and configure the wallet and server settings described in the README.
Before you start
- Node.js with npx for the project generator
- Rust and Cargo to run the server
- A Solana receiving-wallet address
Steps
Run the command below and use the interactive setup wizard to select Axum, Actix or Rocket.
npx github:crypto-priest/x402-solana-rust my-projectCopy
.env.exampleto.envand setRECEIVER_WALLET_ADDRESS.Adjust optional settings as needed, including
SOLANA_NETWORK,SOLANA_RPC_URL,USDC_MINT_ADDRESS,DEFAULT_PRICEandFACILITATOR_URL.Start the server with the command below.
cargo run
Expected outcome
A generated Rust server configured with the selected framework and a receiving wallet; the README says it starts on `http://localhost:3000`.
Guide limitations
- The guide covers the documented local setup; it does not establish deployment or production-operation steps.
- The default network is devnet. Mainnet is listed as an available
SOLANA_NETWORKsetting.
