Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a WordPress coding task benefits from working with the installed project’s source in the admin, especially when you want to inspect a proposed revision before an administrator approves its release.
Who it is for
- WordPress developers creating plugins from requirements.
- Site administrators or developers diagnosing and changing installed plugins or themes.
- People exploring an unfamiliar WordPress codebase or planning a hook-based extension.
Documented uses
- Create a WordPress plugin from a natural-language description.
- Find relevant code and hooks in an installed plugin or theme.
- Plan and stage a bug fix or feature change without immediately editing installed files.
- Review, package, install, fork, apply or roll back a revision.
Requirements & limits
The project describes the plugin as free and bring-your-own-key, and says a separate Wp Autoplugin account is not required. It supports configured model-provider credentials or compatible API endpoints; an experimental ChatGPT Subscription option can use Codex credits.
- Requires WordPress 6.6 or later and PHP 8.0 or later.
- Users configure a supported provider and choose a default model; supported providers listed include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini and xAI.
- AI task requests can send instructions and relevant source code to the configured provider.
- Changes to installed targets are staged separately and require explicit administrator approval before release.
- The plugin retains project history and generated revisions on the WordPress site.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install and configure Wp Autoplugin
Set up the plugin and open a workspace project.
Before you start
- WordPress 6.6 or later
- PHP 8.0 or later
- A supported model provider or compatible API endpoint, with a model selected
Steps
Install and activate Wp Autoplugin.
Open Wp-Autoplugin → Settings.
Configure at least one provider and select a default model, or connect the experimental ChatGPT Subscription provider.
Open Wp-Autoplugin → Workspace and create a project.
Expected outcome
A configured plugin with a workspace project ready for a coding task.
Guide limitations
- The ChatGPT Subscription provider is identified as experimental.
- Setting up a workspace does not itself document how a particular code change should be made or released.
