Practical overview
When it fits
Use Wirebox when an agent needs an identity and communication channels that extend beyond a model session, such as handling customer email or receiving service verification messages.
Who it is for
- Developers building autonomous agents that need persistent identities and communication channels.
- Teams separating agents by role while managing them within an organization.
Documented uses
- Give an agent a persistent handle and dedicated email inbox.
- Enable agents to receive and send communications through email, SMS, MMS or iMessage.
- Deliver communication events to systems through signed webhooks.
- Manage identities through Python or TypeScript SDKs, the CLI or REST API.
Requirements & limits
Terms require an account for certain features and describe authentication through an authorized identity provider such as GitHub or Google. Pricing information describes a free tier and paid plans.
- Handles are globally unique, have defined character constraints and cannot be changed after claiming.
- Email, phone and iMessage are distinct linked channels; phone support covers inbound and outbound SMS and MMS.
- The service exposes Python and TypeScript SDKs, a CLI and REST API for identity operations.
- Webhook delivery is described as signed, with HMAC verification and secret rotation.

Create and inspect an agent identity
Claim a unique handle and check the associated mailbox using a documented Wirebox interface.
Before you start
- A Wirebox account for features requiring authentication.
- Use the Python SDK, TypeScript SDK, or Wirebox CLI documented for identity management.
Steps
Create an identity with a handle; the documentation shows Python, TypeScript and CLI examples.
List organization identities or retrieve the new identity by handle.
Inspect its handle and provisioned mailbox address.
Expected outcome
A persistent agent identity with a dedicated mailbox, retrievable through the documented SDKs or CLI.
Guide limitations
- Handles must be 3–63 characters, use lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, start and end with a letter or digit, and cannot contain consecutive hyphens.
- A claimed handle is globally unique and immutable.
