Webextensionwallet

Webextensionwallet is a JavaScript browser-extension wallet for the Nebulas ecosystem. It lets users create wallets and download keystore files, import a keyfile into the extension, send NAS, and check transaction status. Its dApp integration supports NebPay or postMessage for smart-contract transactions, while dApps can request the current account address.

Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when you need the documented browser-extension wallet flow for a Nebulas account, or when a Nebulas dApp needs to communicate with the wallet through NebPay or postMessage.

Who it is for

  • Nebulas users who want to manage a wallet in a browser extension and send NAS.
  • Developers building Nebulas dApps that need to request contract actions or an account address from the extension.

Documented uses

  • Create a wallet and download its keystore file.
  • Import a keystore file and store the account in the extension.
  • Send NAS to another account and inspect transaction status by hash.
  • Connect a dApp to request smart-contract transactions or the current account address.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The repository links to a Chrome Web Store listing for the extension. For testing local HTML files, its README says to enable “Allow access to file URLs” in the extension management page.

  • The documented ecosystem is Nebulas, and the transfer asset described is NAS.
  • DApp developers can choose between NebPay SDK calls and direct postMessage communication.
  • Transaction status lookup uses the transaction hash shown after sending.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Create and use a Nebulas wallet to send NAS

Create a wallet or import a keystore, then send NAS and look up the resulting transaction status.

Before you start

  • The WebExtensionWallet browser extension.
  • A keystore file to import when using an existing account.

Steps

  1. In the New-Wallet tab, create a wallet and download its keystore file, or proceed with an existing keyfile.

  2. In the Send-TX tab, import the keystore file; the account is then stored in the extension.

  3. Send NAS to another account address.

  4. Check the transaction by clicking its displayed hash in Send-TX, or copy the hash into check-TX.

Expected outcome

A NAS transfer is submitted and its status can be viewed using the transaction hash.

Guide limitations

  • The README does not specify transfer fees, confirmation times, or supported network configuration.
