Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you are preparing a Web3 application and want to inspect or adapt a starter with connected frontend, backend, authentication, account-abstraction and smart-contract data-querying components.
Who it is for
- Developers building a Web3 application who want a starter spanning frontend, backend and contract-data querying.
- Teams evaluating a monorepo structure for a project using NX, TypeScript and the listed Web3 integrations.
Documented uses
- Start a Web3 project from a Next.js frontend and connected backend components.
- Build social-login and account-abstraction flows using the included Web3Auth and Biconomy integrations.
- Query smart-contract data through The Graph.
- Organize application, service, database and tooling code in an NX monorepo.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and specifies an MIT license.
- The frontend is Next.js with Next Auth, Chakra UI and Storybook; the backend components are Hasura GraphQL and Nest.js.
- The Graph is included for querying live smart-contract data.
- The README's local setup requires pnpm, a configured .env file with API keys, and a Prisma migration step.
- The repository includes Cypress end-to-end tests for its web app.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Prepare a local development setup
Install the repository dependencies, start the project and apply its Prisma migrations.
Before you start
- pnpm installed on the machine
- A .env file configured with the required API keys
Steps
Install dependencies with pnpm install.
Create the .env file and configure the API keys required by the project.
Start the project with pnpm start.
Once the container is running, apply the Prisma database and client migrations with pnpm prisma-db:dev:start.
Expected outcome
The documented local project startup and Prisma migration steps are completed.
Guide limitations
- The README points to a separate environment configuration section for the required API keys.
- The instructions describe local setup, not a production deployment.
