Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Vue decentralized application needs a reusable MetaMask connection control and accompanying account or network helpers, particularly when the button's states and appearance should be customized.
Who it is for
- Vue dApp developers adding MetaMask wallet connection and status UI.
- Teams that want to customize wallet-button states and displays within a Vue interface.
Documented uses
- Offer a connect-wallet button and display connected address and identicon.
- Show pending-transaction status alongside wallet state.
- Connect to MetaMask, retrieve or switch accounts, and respond to account or chain changes.
- Request token addition or switch to or add a chain through MetaMask utilities.
Requirements & limits
The project is published as a public GitHub repository under the Apache-2.0 license. The README documents installation with npm or Yarn.
- MetaMask is the wallet supported by the documented utility functions; additional wallet support is described only as a possible future contribution.
- Vue 3 is recommended because Vue 2 usage is prone to issues, despite vue-demi support for both versions.
- The button's UI can be customized through properties and slots, while wallet connection logic is available separately through useMetaMaskWallet.
- The utilities include account retrieval and switching, account and chain change listeners, token addition, and chain switching or addition.

Install and register the wallet button
Add the ConnectWalletButton component and its stylesheet to a Vue application.
Before you start
- A Vue application; Vue 3 is recommended.
- npm or Yarn.
Steps
Install vue-connect-wallet with npm or Yarn.
Import vue-connect-wallet/dist/style.css in the application entry file.
Import ConnectWalletButton where needed, or register the plugin globally; with script setup, import the component without registering it.
Expected outcome
The Vue application can render the wallet button component.
Guide limitations
- The README says Vue 2 usage is prone to issues and recommends Vue 3.
- This setup does not itself connect a wallet; MetaMask connection is handled through the separate utility functions.
Compare options for Wallet connections
