Practical overview
When it fits
Use Tonkeeper Web when a project needs a TON wallet and dApp gateway spanning web, browser-extension and desktop targets, or when an open-source TypeScript starting point is preferred for wallet development.
Who it is for
- TON users seeking a wallet interface across web, browser and desktop clients.
- Developers building or adapting a TON wallet or wallet-to-dApp connection layer.
- Teams evaluating a TypeScript wallet monorepo with extension and desktop build targets.
Documented uses
- Manage crypto assets through a non-custodial TON wallet interface.
- Connect a wallet to TON-based decentralized applications.
- Build web, browser-extension or desktop wallet clients from the repository.
- Adapt the wallet interface for a TON-focused project.
- Regenerate documented TypeScript clients for supported Tonkeeper backend services.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and licensed under Apache License 2.0. The documented extension support includes Firefox 109 or higher, Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers.
- The project is focused on the TON ecosystem rather than a general multi-chain wallet.
- The monorepo includes web, Firefox and Chromium extension, and current-operating-system desktop build paths.
- Local builds require Node.js v20.7.0 and Yarn 4.0.2.
- Regenerating some generated API clients requires a GitHub token with read access to specified private backend repositories.
- The source is Apache-2.0 licensed and written in TypeScript.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Build the Tonkeeper Web application locally
Create the documented web build from the Tonkeeper Web monorepo.
Before you start
- Node.js v20.7.0
- Yarn 4.0.2
- A local copy of the public repository
Steps
Use the repository's Node.js version with nvm.
Enable the documented Yarn version through Corepack.
Install dependencies with yarn.
Run yarn build:web.
Expected outcome
The compressed web build is placed in /apps/web/dist.
Guide limitations
- This procedure documents building the web application only; it does not document deployment or wallet use.
- The repository also documents separate commands for browser extensions and desktop builds.
Compare options for Wallet connections
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tonkeeper Web | Manage crypto assets through a non-custodial TON wallet interface. | Browser Extension, Linux, macOS, Web | The repository is public and licensed under Apache License 2.0. The documented extension support includes Firefox 109 or higher, Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers. |
| Shango | Connect a mobile wallet to a personal LND node. | Android, iOS, Mobile | The README lists iOS TestFlight and Google Play beta installation routes and describes the app as a public beta. Its cloud-node instructions are for testnet. |
