Swe Af

Swe Af is an Apache-2.0 autonomous software-engineering fleet of AI agents built on AgentField. It coordinates product-management, architecture, coding, review and testing roles around repository changes, with a documented workflow that plans, codes, tests and ships production-grade pull requests.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Swe Af when a repository task benefits from coordinated planning, implementation, testing and pull-request preparation, including work that spans a primary codebase and dependency repositories.

Who it is for

  • Software teams automating repository-based engineering work
  • Developers coordinating changes across an application and related repositories
  • Teams evaluating multi-agent coding, review and testing workflows

Documented uses

  • Turn a software goal into a coordinated engineering workflow
  • Generate and modify code in a target repository
  • Run planning, coding, review and testing stages through specialized agents
  • Prepare pull-request-oriented changes across one or more repositories
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The repository is public, identifies Apache-2.0 licensing, and documents cloud, server and self-hosted AgentField environments. The quick-start badge identifies Python 3.12 or later, and the CLI example requires af version 0.1.87 or later.

  • The workflow depends on AgentField as its runtime foundation.
  • Model selection is configurable by role, including default, coder and QA assignments.
  • Single-repository requests can use a remote URL or local path.
  • Multi-repository builds distinguish a primary repository from dependency repositories; failures in those roles are handled differently.
  • The documented interface supports both the af CLI and a raw HTTP request.

Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.

Source-based practical guide

Set up a repository build request

Prepare a documented SWE-AF build invocation for a software repository.

Before you start

  • AgentField command-line interface version 0.1.87 or later for the CLI example
  • A remote repository URL or local repository path
  • An AgentField runtime and supported model assignments when configuring roles
  • Python 3.12 or later, as identified in the repository README badge

Steps

  1. Define the engineering goal and provide either repo_url or repo_path.

  2. Choose the AgentField runtime in the configuration, such as claude_code, and assign models for the default, coder or qa roles as needed.

  3. Invoke swe-planner.build through the af CLI or the documented HTTP endpoint.

  4. For work spanning codebases, provide config.repos with primary and dependency roles.

Expected outcome

A submitted SWE-AF engineering build request with a single- or multi-repository scope and configured agent roles.

Guide limitations

  • The supplied documentation describes the request interface and workflow but does not establish deployment, execution success or compatibility beyond those documented requirements.
COMPARE OPTIONS

Compare options for Agent orchestration

These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
