Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when a Solana NFT project needs self-hosted purchase alerts in Discord and can supply RPC access, bot credentials and a monitored creator address.
Who it is for
- Solana NFT project teams that want purchase activity posted to Discord
- Developers able to configure and operate a Docker or Node-based bot
Documented uses
- Receive Discord notifications when purchases occur for monitored NFT project addresses.
- Monitor multiple creator addresses from one configuration using comma-separated values.
- Experiment with posting purchase announcements to Twitter using API credentials.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and specifies the MIT license. The README documents Docker deployment and a development setup using Node 16.6 or later with Yarn.
- A Solana RPC node/server is required to fetch transactions.
- Discord setup requires a bot token, channel ID and suitable channel permissions.
- Docker deployment requires Docker 20.10 or later; the README notes the documented command is tested on Linux/Unix and Windows may differ.
- The Twitter feature is explicitly experimental, requires Twitter API credentials and Elevated access, and has not been stress-tested for high-volume projects.
- The README lists Magic Eden configuration variables, while its feature summary also refers to support for major marketplaces without identifying them in the available setup details.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up Discord purchase alerts with Docker
Configure the bot to monitor a Solana NFT address and send marketplace purchase notifications to a Discord channel.
Before you start
- Docker 20.10 or later
- A Solana RPC node/server and its URL
- A Discord bot token and a channel ID
- A creator address to monitor
Steps
Set SOLANA_RPC, DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN, SUBSCRIPTION_DISCORD_CHANNEL_ID and SUBSCRIPTION_MINT_ADDRESS in the Docker run configuration, replacing the example values with your own.
Run the documented Docker command using the milktoastlab/solananftbot image.
Ensure the bot has permission to view the channel and read and send messages, including embeds.
Expected outcome
A running bot configured to monitor the selected address and notify the selected Discord channel about purchases.
Guide limitations
- The documented Docker command notes that it is tested in Linux/Unix environments; Windows may behave differently.
- The watched address should be a creator address. Multiple addresses can be comma-separated.
- The guide documents setup but does not establish that a specific deployment or notification has been tested.
