Safe Cex

Safe Cex is an open-source TypeScript library for connecting cryptocurrency trading applications to exchange APIs through a shared interface. It manages exchange-data synchronization and provides documented methods and events for working with markets, tickers, orders, positions, balances, fills and OHLCV candles.

Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use Safe Cex when building a TypeScript trading interface that needs exchange connectivity and synchronized exchange data, particularly for the supported futures and perpetual products.

Who it is for

  • TypeScript developers building cryptocurrency trading interfaces.
  • Trading-platform teams integrating supported exchange futures or perpetual products.
  • Developers who want exchange data and order-related events exposed through a shared interface.

Documented uses

  • Connect a trading application to a listed cryptocurrency exchange.
  • Fetch and track market, ticker, order, position and balance data.
  • Use exchange events to update an interface when data changes or an order fills.
  • Retrieve OHLCV candles for a market symbol and timeframe.

Requirements & limits

The project is identified as open source. Installation is documented through npm; exchange initialization requires API credentials, with additional credentials for some exchanges.

  • The README lists Bybit, Binance, Bitget, WOO X, OKX, GateIO, Blofin and Phemex, but specifies futures or perpetual products rather than unrestricted exchange coverage.
  • WOO X requires an application ID; OKX, Bitget and Blofin require a passphrase in addition to the API key and secret.
  • Binance testnet use in a browser requires a CORS-Anywhere server, according to the README.
  • The library’s documented interface includes exchange data lifecycle management and order methods, and is described as oriented toward in-browser use.
  • The repository description says open source, but the README excerpt does not identify a license.

Source-based practical guide

Install and initialize an exchange connection

Set up Safe Cex in a TypeScript project and begin exchange synchronization.

Before you start

  • A TypeScript project using npm.
  • An API key and secret for the selected exchange.
  • For WOO X, an application ID; for OKX, Bitget or Blofin, a passphrase.
  • For Binance testnet in a browser, a CORS-Anywhere server.

Steps

  1. Install the package with the command below.

    Documented command
    npm install --save safe-cex
  2. Import createExchange from safe-cex and initialize it with a listed exchange name and the required credentials.

  3. Call await exchange.start() to begin synchronization of exchange data.

  4. Use the documented store loading states to check when balance, orders, markets, tickers and positions are loaded.

Expected outcome

The initialized library begins fetching exchange data and exposes it through its store.

Guide limitations

  • The README does not provide a complete application or trading-interface implementation.
  • The CORS-Anywhere requirement applies to Binance testnet when used in a browser.
  • Supported instruments vary by exchange and are limited to the products listed in the README.
