Practical overview
When it fits
Use Runify when you want a visual way to coordinate agents and retrieval workflows, or need to connect those workflows to data sources and external systems.
Who it is for
- Teams designing agent workflows with tool calls, branches, loops or approval steps.
- Organizations connecting AI workflows to internal documents or PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis data sources.
- Developers embedding agent workflows in existing systems through APIs or webhooks.
Documented uses
- Assemble multi-step agent workflows visually.
- Import documents, retrieve relevant passages and use them in AI-generated answers.
- Connect workflow steps to databases, HTTP services, files or code execution.
- Coordinate conversations and include human approval steps.
Requirements & limits
The repository documents macOS Apple Silicon and Windows desktop installers, a JAR package, and an Apache-2.0 license. Source development requires JDK 25+, Node.js 20+ and Maven 3.8+.
- The editor uses a custom DAG engine and LogicFlow canvas rather than a BPMN workflow model.
- Lucene is included for search; Elasticsearch is listed as an optional choice.
- The README documents database nodes for PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis, plus API and webhook integration.
- Desktop packages are separate from the JAR and source-development routes.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
