Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you need a web interface and EVM contract structure for organizing peer-to-peer prediction wagers, or when reviewing a documented example of escrow, resolution and payout flows.
Who it is for
- People evaluating or participating in peer-to-peer event prediction wagers
- Developers exploring a React and Solidity implementation of wager escrow and payout flows
Documented uses
- Create a wager with custom terms and invite others to pledge funds.
- Hold wager funds in multi-signature escrow while participants sign.
- Resolve a wager by selecting a winner, then release funds automatically after required signatures or manually after a deadline.
- Cancel a wager as its creator and issue refunds, as described by the project.
Requirements & limits
The repository documents MetaMask and WalletConnect support. Its setup instructions identify Polygon Amoy testnet MATIC for testing and include scripts for Polygon Amoy and Polygon mainnet deployment; they do not establish the availability of a hosted public market.
- The project is both frontend and contract code, rather than a documented public market service; local use requires setup and a deployed contract address.
- The documented test network is Polygon Amoy, while mainnet deployment requires network configuration and a private key.
- Polymarket dispute submission is described as ready for integration, not as a completed dispute feature.
- The README’s security and test claims are project statements, not independent audit or verification results.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install and configure the local frontend
Prepare the documented frontend dependencies and configure it to connect to a deployed wager contract.
Before you start
- Node.js 18+ and npm
- A cloned copy of the repository
- A deployed wager contract address
- A WalletConnect project ID only if using WalletConnect
Steps
From the repository root, install frontend dependencies with
cd frontendand the command below.npm installCreate
frontend/.envand setVITE_WAGER_CONTRACT_ADDRESSto the deployed contract address. If using WalletConnect, also set
VITE_WALLETCONNECT_PROJECT_ID.Run the command below from the frontend directory.
npm run dev
Expected outcome
The README says the Vite frontend starts at `http://localhost:5173` or a configured port and can be configured to connect to the specified contract.
Guide limitations
- These instructions cover local frontend setup, not deployment or verification of a public service.
- The README does not provide a contract address; a deployed contract is needed for the frontend connection.
