Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you want a self-configured terminal workflow for ORE mining and related balance or reward-claim tasks, rather than a hosted mining service.
Who it is for
- People who want to run ORE mining from a terminal on a computer, Android Termux environment or VPS.
- Users comfortable configuring Solana CLI tools, wallet key paths, RPC endpoints and shell scripts.
Documented uses
- Configure and start an ORE mining run.
- Check an ORE balance or unclaimed balance.
- Claim ORE rewards using the companion script.
Requirements & limits
- The main mining workflow requires configuring an RPC endpoint, public-key path and CPU thread settings in oreminer.sh.
- The README describes use through PowerShell or WSL, Android Termux and VPS environments.
- Setup includes a Solana wallet, an ORE token account and SOL for transaction costs.
- The repository describes making multiple scripts with different RPC and configuration settings, but does not document a multi-process orchestrator.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up and configure the ORE mining script
Prepare the documented command-line tools and configure oreminer.sh for an ORE mining run.
Before you start
- A terminal environment; the README describes PowerShell or WSL, Android Termux, and VPS use.
- Rust and Cargo, Solana CLI, an Ore CLI installation, and a Solana wallet.
- SOL for transaction costs, an ORE token account, and a Solana RPC endpoint.
- For a VPS, confirmation that the provider permits cryptocurrency mining.
Steps
Install Rust and Cargo, then install the Solana CLI and make its executable path available in the terminal.
Create a Solana wallet with solana-keygen new, or recover an existing wallet with solana-keygen recover; obtain its public address.
Create the ORE token account with the Solana CLI and install the Ore CLI using the README's Cargo installation option or source-build option.
Clone the Ore Miner repository, edit oreminer.sh with the RPC endpoint, public-key path and CPU thread settings, then make the scripts executable.
From the repository directory, run ./oreminer.sh.
Expected outcome
The configured script is ready to start an ORE mining run from the terminal.
Guide limitations
- The README's suggested 0.01 SOL balance is an estimate, not a guarantee of sufficiency or mining results.
- VPS users must check their provider's mining rules.
- The README documents configuration and invocation but provides no test results or performance guarantees.
