Practical overview
When it fits
Use Ongrid when an operations team wants to investigate infrastructure alerts or incidents in chat and draw on telemetry, topology, knowledge search and specialist agent workflows.
Who it is for
- Infrastructure and SRE teams investigating alerts and service incidents.
- Operations teams that want to connect chat-based incident response with telemetry, topology, runbooks or code search.
- Teams managing Kubernetes workloads or network devices as part of operational workflows.
Documented uses
- Investigate an alert by correlating metrics, logs, traces and topology.
- Return root-cause analysis and next steps to a chat conversation.
- Search operational runbooks, incident history and repositories for troubleshooting context.
- Build repeatable automations from triggers, agents, tools, conditions and notifications.
- Inspect Kubernetes workloads and events, manage upgrades, and connect cluster resources to topology.
Requirements & limits
The repository documents self-hosted installation for AMD64 and ARM64 servers running Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, or RHEL/Rocky 9. It identifies the project as open source under AGPL-3.0.
- The project supports Slack, Telegram, Lark/LarkSuite, DingTalk and WeCom as chat channels.
- The README describes a self-hosted installer and lists Prometheus, Loki, Tempo and Grafana in its observability stack.
- Remote execution and browser-based SSH are distinct from the listed read-only host inspection tools; review which operational permissions your workflow requires.
- Workflow Builder, Knowledge Vault and MCP server registration extend the agent beyond one-off chat investigations.
