Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when developing for the Nexus workflow engine, especially to build Talus agents or tools, or when a project needs the documented CLI workflows for DAGs, scheduled tasks or TAP development.
Who it is for
- Developers creating Talus agents or tools with Nexus.
- TAP authors using the CLI for scaffolding and Move unit testing.
- Developers managing Nexus DAGs, scheduled tasks, tools and configuration through the CLI.
Documented uses
- Create Talus agents and tools for Nexus.
- Validate and publish Nexus DAGs using the CLI.
- Create, schedule and inspect Nexus tasks and their occurrence records.
- Scaffold TAP applications and run Move unit tests against published Nexus bytecode in a local Sui VM.
Requirements & limits
The project repository is public and identifies the software as open source under the Apache-2.0 license. The CLI installation instructions cover Homebrew on macOS or Linux, Arch Linux via AUR, cargo-binstall and Cargo.
- The SDK and CLI are distinct components within a repository that also includes a Rust toolkit, Walrus package and standard Nexus tools.
- Task scheduling is modeled as Task → Schedule → Occurrence; the CLI distinguishes empty-task creation from scheduling when the initial schedule is known.
- TAP unit tests run in a local Sui VM against published Nexus bytecode; the documentation separates this from Testnet integration.
- The repository gives CLI installation routes but not a full walkthrough for building and running an agent or tool.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the Nexus CLI with Cargo
Install the Nexus CLI from the repository using the documented Cargo command.
Before you start
- Rust Cargo is available in the development environment.
- Access to the Nexus SDK Git repository.
Steps
Run the command below.
cargo install nexus-cli --git https://github.com/talus-network/nexus-sdk --tag v2.1.1 --lockedUse the installed
nexuscommand to view available options withnexus help.
Expected outcome
The CLI installation command is provided, and the help command lists its available command groups.
Guide limitations
- This covers the Nexus CLI, not setup or use of every SDK package.
- The documentation lists this command with tag v2.1.1; it does not provide a complete SDK project walkthrough.
