Practical overview
When it fits
Use it as a code starting point when building a Solana dApp and adapting its wallet, transaction, data-retrieval or styling examples.
Who it is for
- Developers building a web application that connects to Solana wallets.
- Teams seeking examples for SOL or SPL-token transfers and wallet NFT data.
Documented uses
- Connect supported wallets and validate wallet ownership with a signature.
- Create and submit SOL or SPL-token transfers, then check transaction success.
- Retrieve NFT data for a wallet through the Helius API.
- Customize the dApp's styling and light or dark theme.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and MIT-licensed. The documented local setup requires a Helius API key for wallet details.
- Phantom and Backpack are included by default; other wallets supported by wallet-adapter can be configured.
- Transaction signing occurs client-side, while the README describes other actions as running in the backend.
- The documented stack includes Next.js, TypeScript, Solana libraries, Tailwind CSS, daisyUI and react-hot-toast.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up the starter kit locally
Create a local copy of the template and configure its Helius key for wallet-data retrieval.
Before you start
- A Helius API key
- A local development environment capable of running the documented npx and npm commands
Steps
Create a project from the repository using the documented npx create-next-app command, or use the GitHub template or fork option.
Add a .env.local file containing HELIUS_API_KEY=.
Run npm run dev to start the development server.
Expected outcome
A local development instance of the starter kit configured with a Helius API key.
Guide limitations
- The guide covers local setup and starting the development server, not deployment.
- The Helius key is identified as necessary for fetching wallet details.
Compare options for Wallet connections
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
