Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when local execution and coordination across multiple coding-agent tools matter more than working with a single standalone agent.
Who it is for
- Developers coordinating several coding-agent tools on one machine.
- Teams or individuals looking to delegate software tasks across supported coding CLIs.
- Users interested in a CLI and desktop-oriented local agent workflow.
Documented uses
- Coordinate multiple coding agents on a shared local task.
- Delegate software work across supported coding-agent CLIs.
- Monitor an office of locally run agents through a desktop-oriented workflow.
Requirements & limits
The project is publicly hosted on GitHub, marked active in the supplied record, and uses an MIT license. The evidence does not specify pricing or account requirements.
- Whether the coding tools you already use are among the documented integrations: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI, Cursor, xAI Grok, Kimi Code and OpenCode.
- Whether a local CLI and desktop-oriented workflow fits your operating model.
- Whether you need coordination across agents rather than a single coding assistant.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Build Munder Difflin from source through dependency installation
Prepare an unreleased local build from the TypeScript repository through the documented dependency-installation stage.
Before you start
- macOS, Windows, or Linux.
- Node.js 18+ and npm.
- A C/C++ toolchain for node-pty’s native addon.
- At least one supported agent CLI on PATH.
Steps
Clone the repository.
Change into the repository directory.
Run npm install so dependencies are installed and node-pty is rebuilt against Electron’s ABI.
Expected outcome
The repository dependencies are installed and the native node-pty dependency is rebuilt for Electron.
Guide limitations
- On macOS, the prerequisites specify Xcode Command Line Tools for the C/C++ toolchain.
- Optional API keys, local LLMs, and semantic memory are not required for the documented installation stage.
Compare options for Agent orchestration
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Munder Difflin | Coordinate multiple coding agents on a shared local task. | CLI, Desktop | The project is publicly hosted on GitHub, marked active in the supplied record, and uses an MIT license. The evidence does not specify pricing or account requirements. |
| Massgen | Run multiple AI agents against the same user task. | CLI | The repository documents installation through pip or uv and requires Python 3.11 or later. Setup can configure API keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI; credentials are needed for the selected model backends. |
| Langchain Multi Agents Boilerplate | Route incoming football questions to model and agent workflows according to task complexity. | Web | The repository is public and specifies an MIT license. Running the application requires OpenAI and Groq API keys and a Redis server. |
