Practical overview
When it fits
Use it after exporting Solana account data when you need an offline, dataset-wide account funding and storage analysis.
Who it is for
- Solana developers and operators who have account snapshot exports
- Teams assessing storage-related lamport balances across many accounts
Documented uses
- Identify accounts below a selected rent-exempt minimum.
- Estimate the total lamport bond and underfunded deficit represented in a snapshot.
- See how captured balances are distributed across account data sizes and owners.
- Review malformed JSONL records without losing the rest of the report.
Requirements & limits
The Python core is documented as requiring no installation beyond Python and uses the standard library. The repository is MIT-licensed.
- Input must be an account snapshot in JSONL format.
- The selected lamports-per-byte rate affects rent-exempt classifications.
- Executable program accounts are excluded from data-size bands and locked-balance totals.
- A separate TypeScript verifier is included; it is not the Python audit command.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Audit a Solana snapshot with the Python CLI
Generate a text audit report from a JSONL account snapshot.
Before you start
- A checkout of the LamportLens repository
- A JSONL export of Solana account snapshots
- Python
Steps
Set PYTHONPATH to the repository's src directory.
Run the command below with the JSONL snapshot path.
python -m lamportlens audit
Expected outcome
A line-oriented report with account statuses, totals, data-size bands, owner rankings and parse errors.
Guide limitations
- The report analyzes the supplied snapshot rather than querying live accounts.
- Rent-exempt results depend on the lamports-per-byte rate used.
