Practical overview
When it fits
Use Klever Go when you need the protocol implementation to build node software, operate a Klever node, or work with its smart-contract and command-line capabilities.
Who it is for
- Operators building and configuring Klever validator or seed nodes.
- Developers working with Klever smart contracts and protocol-level applications.
- People building command-line workflows for Klever accounts, KDA assets or validators.
Documented uses
- Build binaries for node operation and blockchain-related CLI tasks.
- Run a validator node or a seed node for network discovery.
- Execute WebAssembly smart contracts through KVM.
- Generate validator and wallet keys.
- Use operator CLI commands for accounts, KDA assets and validators.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public and displays a GPL-3.0 license. Building from source requires Go 1.25 or higher, Git and Make.
- A consensus-participating validator requires a registered, staked public key; without that, it syncs as an observer.
- The repository provides separate validator and seed-node binaries, serving different network roles.
- Node configuration covers networking, storage, API endpoints and smart-contract gas costs.
- The listed build prerequisites distinguish ordinary builds from development and API-documentation work: protoc and Swag are specified for those additional purposes.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Build the Klever Go binaries from source
Prepare the repository and build its command-line and node components.
Before you start
- Go 1.25 or higher
- Git
- Make
Steps
Clone https://github.com/klever-io/klever-go.git.
Change into the klever-go directory.
Run make prepare.
Run make build to build the binaries.
Expected outcome
The README says this builds binaries in the cmd directories; its component list includes validator, operator, seednode, keygenerator and connector.
Guide limitations
- This guide covers building only; it does not configure or start a node.
- A validator participates in consensus only when its public key is registered and staked; otherwise it syncs as an observer.
