Understand the project

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when a webpage image is a reference for a prompt, or when you want to revise and optionally test an image-derived prompt in a browser workflow.

Who it is for

  • People who use visual references to develop image-generation prompts.
  • Chrome users who want to edit, translate, or copy image-derived prompts in the browser.
  • Users who want to test prompts through their own configured image-generation API.

Documented uses

  • Analyze a selected webpage image and create a concise or detailed prompt.
  • Switch prompt output between Chinese and English, inspect its structure, and edit or copy it.
  • Optionally generate an image from an edited prompt and view or download the result.
  • Configure different providers for image analysis and image generation.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

The extension uses users’ own provider API keys rather than supplying or hosting keys. Keys and settings are stored in Chrome local storage; requests go directly to the configured external provider. The repository documents loading the extension from source in Chrome.

  • Both image analysis and optional image generation require provider configuration and API keys.
  • Gemini and OpenAI-compatible providers are listed for both tasks; provider support and model access depend on the user’s account and configuration.
  • The extension sends selected image data to the configured analysis provider, and sends the current prompt to the configured generation provider when generation is requested.
  • The repository notes that image availability or website restrictions can prevent some webpage images from being analyzed.
  • ImageLens is a JavaScript Chrome extension under the MIT License.
