Practical overview
When it fits
Use the repository when you need to inspect or develop smart contracts for European-style, cash-settled crypto options, or to study spread-based collateral design.
Who it is for
- Developers studying or adapting smart contracts for defined-strike crypto options.
- Builders exploring spread positions that can reduce collateral requirements.
- Technical users who need documented local development and deployment steps.
Documented uses
- Create option tokens that represent rights to buy or sell an asset at a specified strike price by expiry.
- Create spreads as an option seller to reduce capital locked as collateral.
- Redeem cash-settled option proceeds by returning oTokens after expiry.
- Compile, test, and deploy the contracts using the repository’s documented tooling.
Requirements & limits
The source code is public under the Unlicense. The documented local development prerequisites are Node.js v10.18.0 and NPM.
- Options settle in cash at expiry rather than exchanging the underlying and strike assets.
- The README describes spreads as a way for sellers to reduce collateral locked in the system.
- Local development uses Ganache and does not require a full Ethereum node.
- Deployment instructions require an Infura key, wallet mnemonic, and deployment configuration.
- Repository instructions include unit and integration test commands; their presence does not indicate that tests were executed for this profile.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Set up a local Gamma development deployment
Prepare the contracts and deploy them to the local Ganache development chain described in the README.
Before you start
- Node.js v10.18.0
- NPM
- The GammaProtocol repository
- An Infura key, wallet mnemonic, and deployment parameters in the specified files
Steps
Clone the repository and install dependencies with the command below.
npm iCompile the contracts with the command below.
npm run buildStart the local chain with the command below in a separate terminal.
npm run ganacheAdd the Infura key to
.infuraKey, the wallet mnemonic to.secret, and set parameters in./migrations/deployment-config.json.Run the command below.
npm run deploy:development
Expected outcome
The README’s documented setup path for deploying the contracts to a local development chain.
Guide limitations
- The guide describes repository instructions, not a verified execution.
- It does not establish the status of any deployed protocol.
