Practical overview
When it fits
Use Freshmint when building a Flow NFT collection and you want a TypeScript-based workflow that connects project scaffolding, metadata handling, IPFS pinning, and batch minting.
Who it is for
- NFT project teams preparing collections for Flow.
- JavaScript and TypeScript builders creating NFT drops.
- Cadence developers working with Flow NFT contracts.
Documented uses
- Scaffold a Flow NFT project with a Cadence contract, metadata schema, and asset folder.
- Define and validate NFT metadata against Flow metadata views.
- Pin NFT media and metadata to IPFS and use the resulting CIDs in Cadence mint transactions.
- Mint NFTs in batches from CSV or JSON metadata.
Requirements & limits
Freshmint is published as TypeScript packages and a Node.js CLI; Node.js is required. The repository identifies an Apache-2.0 license.
- Freshmint targets Flow’s emulator, testnet, and mainnet; the project requires configuring the intended network and a Flow account.
- IPFS media and metadata pinning uses supported pinning providers, which must be configured.
- The README describes the project as published as an alpha and recommends checking releases before production use.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Scaffold a Freshmint project
Create a project structure for a Flow NFT collection before configuring its account, network, and IPFS provider.
Before you start
- Node.js
- The Freshmint CLI installed from its package
Steps
Install the Freshmint CLI.
Initialize a project directory containing a Cadence contract, metadata schema, and asset folder.
Configure a Flow account, a target network, and an IPFS pinning provider.
Expected outcome
A scaffolded project with the core contract, metadata, and asset locations configured for the next minting stage.
Guide limitations
- The setup steps do not by themselves mint NFTs.
- The README describes Freshmint as published as an alpha; review releases before production use.
Mint a collection in batches
Mint NFTs on Flow from CSV or JSON metadata after configuring a Freshmint project.
Before you start
- Node.js and the Freshmint CLI
- A scaffolded project and configured Flow account and network
- NFT metadata in CSV or JSON
- An IPFS pinning provider configured
Steps
Prepare collection metadata in CSV or JSON and provide the project assets.
Use Freshmint to pin media and metadata to IPFS.
Mint the NFTs in batches through the configured Flow network.
Expected outcome
Batched mint transactions submit the collection NFTs to the configured Flow network, with pinned content CIDs recorded in Cadence mint transactions.
Guide limitations
- The repository describes the project as alpha; check its releases before production use.
- The precise provider setup and package-specific commands are covered in the project documentation.
