Practical overview
When it fits
Consider it when you need a locally stored explorer-label dataset and can assess or repair its currently broken scraping dependency.
Who it is for
- Blockchain researchers assembling address-label datasets.
- Developers seeking explorer labels in files for their own analytics or monitoring tools.
Documented uses
- Request a particular explorer label, such as exchange or bridge.
- Attempt to retrieve all labels for a selected chain.
- Use exported JSON or CSV labels as input to research or another application.
Requirements & limits
- The README reports that the scraper is currently broken due to undetected chromedriver.
- The README documents browser login as a way to prevent popups or missing data and lists optional explorer credentials in configuration.
- The stated all-label workflow may take more than an hour and can crash.
- The repository lists seven chains, but its interactive workflow names only eth, bsc and poly.
- The repository identifies its license as MIT.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Prepare and attempt a label export
Follow the README's setup and retrieval workflow to request a single label or all labels.
Before you start
- The repository code and Python environment with the listed requirements installed.
- An account for the selected explorer; the README says logging in prevents popups or missing data.
Steps
From the project folder, install dependencies with pip install -r requirements.txt.
Optionally add ETHERSCAN_USER and ETHERSCAN_PASS to sample.config.json and rename it config.json.
Run python main.py, select a chain, and log into the corresponding explorer account when prompted.
Choose single and enter a label such as exchange, or choose all. The README lists eth, bsc and poly as chain choices.
Check data for individual JSON and CSV files and combined for consolidated JSON label data.
Expected outcome
The intended output is individual label files and consolidated label data in JSON and CSV formats.
Guide limitations
- The README says the scraper is currently broken because undetected chromedriver is not working; successful retrieval is not established.
- All-label retrieval is described as taking more than an hour and occasionally crashing.
- The README's interactive chain choices list only eth, bsc and poly despite listing data for seven chains.
