Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when DeepSeek Harness is already installed and you want balance monitoring, usage analysis or quota queries alongside your Harness workflow.
Who it is for
- DeepSeek Harness users who want API balance and usage information in their Harness interface.
- Operators managing more than one DeepSeek API account.
- DeepSeek Harness users who want a quota summary tool or a view of third-party web plugins.
Documented uses
- Check CNY and USD API balance pools, including across multiple accounts.
- Set separate low-balance thresholds and receive a visual warning when a balance falls below them.
- Review usage history, model consumption, recent calls and performance metrics.
- Ask the registered query_api_quota tool for a concise balance summary.
- Open DeepSeek's official top-up and usage-detail pages.
Requirements & limits
The project documents installation for macOS, Linux and Windows. DeepSeek Harness must be installed and running. A DeepSeek API key is optional if DEEPSEEK_API_KEY is already configured on the machine.
- The plugin is designed for DeepSeek Harness, not as a standalone balance dashboard.
- It can read the machine's configured DEEPSEEK_API_KEY during polling, avoiding manual entry when that credential is present.
- Low-balance thresholds for CNY and USD are configurable separately.
- The README directs users to install from the project's script or GitHub source rather than by bare npm package name.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install the plugin in DeepSeek Harness
Add the balance and usage plugin to an existing DeepSeek Harness installation.
Before you start
- DeepSeek Harness installed and running.
- A supported macOS, Linux or Windows environment.
Steps
On macOS or Linux, run the documented install script from the project README.
On Windows, run the documented PowerShell install script.
Restart DeepSeek Harness.
Look for the three plugin buttons to the right of the input box.
Expected outcome
The plugin is installed in DeepSeek Harness and its entry buttons appear beside the input box.
Guide limitations
- A DeepSeek API key is needed for balance queries unless DEEPSEEK_API_KEY is already configured on the machine.
- The README warns against installing by bare npm package name because an unrelated package has the same name.
