Practical overview
When it fits
Use it when you need to operate and configure your own CryptoNote mining pool and can provide the coin daemon, Redis and required server dependencies.
Who it is for
- Operators setting up a self-hosted mining pool for a supported CryptoNote-based coin.
- Developers building a custom pool statistics dashboard using the AJAX API.
Documented uses
- Run a pool server that accepts miner connections and distributes mining jobs.
- Track pool and miner statistics, shares, balances and found-block status.
- Configure pool payment processing and coin-specific mining settings.
- Display pool information in an included or custom web front end.
Requirements & limits
The repository is public, open-source software licensed under GPL-2.0.
- The README lists a coin daemon, Node.js 11.0 or later, Redis 2.6 or later, libssl, Boost and libsodium as requirements.
- Supported algorithms and variants depend on the coin configuration; the README names CryptoNight, CryptoNight Light, Fast and Heavy variants for particular coins.
- The included front end is described as a lightweight example; the complete AJAX API surface is not specified.
- The documented installation process includes cloning the repository, running npm update and adapting a coin-specific example configuration.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Install and configure the pool
Prepare the repository and a coin-specific configuration file for a self-hosted pool.
Before you start
- A coin daemon for the selected coin
- Node.js 11.0 or later
- Redis 2.6 or later
- libssl, Boost and libsodium
Steps
Clone the repository and enter the pool directory.
Run npm update to install the dependencies.
Copy a suitable config_examples/COIN.json file to config.json.
Review the configuration options and adjust them for the intended pool.
Expected outcome
The repository has its dependencies installed and a coin-specific configuration file prepared.
Guide limitations
- These steps cover installation and configuration only, not starting or validating a running pool.
- The selected coin daemon must be built separately.
