Codex On Crack

Codex On Crack is a JavaScript package that coordinates configured AI models from a Codex conversation through planning, delegation, host-tool handoffs and review. Codex remains the lead and uses its available tools, while compatible native workers or an authenticated Claude Code route can carry out assigned work. An optional panel displays registered activity by workspace.

Practical overview

When it fits

Use it when a development task benefits from a lead model planning or reviewing work performed by another configured model, or when you want a workspace-scoped view of registered orchestration activity. Small tasks can remain with the current model.

Who it is for

  • Developers coordinating work between a Codex model and configured native workers.
  • Users who want a Claude Code execution route coordinated from a Codex workflow.
  • Teams or individuals who want to inspect registered agent activity and review work by workspace.

Documented uses

  • Plan an assignment and select suitable configured models for its roles.
  • Delegate implementation to a compatible native worker and return results to the Codex lead for review.
  • Use Claude Opus 5.5 through Claude Code for implementation while Codex coordinates and validates.
  • Track registered phases, model handoffs, tool activity, timing and available usage counters in the optional panel.
  • Review visual changes and leave feedback tied to a screenshot revision.
Before you choose

Requirements & limits

  • Requires Node.js 24.15 or later, a Codex client with plugin support, and user-provided model access.
  • Native worker delegation depends on a compatible configured route; Claude mode requires the official Claude Code CLI authenticated through a subscription.
  • The current Claude adapter targets Claude Opus 5.5; other Claude models are not automatically supported by it.
  • The optional panel is installed separately and displays registered sessions and runs, not every conversation automatically.
  • The package is a preview release, and its instructions and file scopes are not an operating-system sandbox.

Source-based practical guide

Install Codex On Crack from a local checkout

Add the package to a Codex client from its repository checkout.

Before you start

  • Node.js 24.15 or later
  • A Codex client with plugin support
  • Model access authorized by the user
  • A checkout of the repository in a stable folder

Steps

  1. From the checkout, add the local marketplace with codex plugin marketplace add "$PWD".

  2. Add the package with codex plugin add codex-on-crack@codex-on-crack.

  3. Start a fresh Codex conversation and use the package’s planning skill to agree on a plan before building.

Expected outcome

The package is added to Codex and a new conversation can begin a planning workflow.

Guide limitations

  • Setup does not run paid model requests; builds use the model access the user authorizes.
  • This is a preview release. The installation instructions and file scopes are not an operating-system sandbox.

Add the optional workspace panel

Install the panel alongside the orchestration package for viewing registered work.

Before you start

  • The Codex On Crack repository checkout
  • A Codex client with plugin support
  • The Codex On Crack package installed

Steps

  1. From the checkout, add the panel with codex plugin add codex-on-crack-panel@codex-on-crack.

  2. In a fresh conversation, ask to connect the workspace and its runs to the Codex On Crack panel.

  3. Register the sessions and runs to observe, then select a workspace to view its registered project activity.

Expected outcome

The optional panel can display registered work for the selected workspace in a supported Codex host, with a localhost view available as a fallback.

Guide limitations

  • The panel does not automatically read every conversation on the computer.
  • Feedback sent through the panel does not interrupt the conversation or count as approval; explicit approval is separate.
