Practical overview
When it fits
Use Clawhive when you want a Rust-native CLI framework to configure and operate agents connected to supported model providers and messaging channels, or to explore multi-agent and memory features.
Who it is for
- Developers building or operating AI agents across chat channels.
- Teams exploring multi-agent orchestration, configurable model routing and persistent memory.
- Operators seeking a CLI-based agent platform with documented skill permissions and execution limits.
Documented uses
- Configure agents, providers and channel connections through an interactive CLI or local browser wizard.
- Run configured channel bots and an HTTP API server, or test an agent through a local chat REPL.
- Inspect and manage agents, skills, sessions, scheduled jobs and logs from the CLI.
- Build agent workflows using per-agent personas, model routing, sub-agent spawning and layered memory.
Requirements & limits
The project is presented as open source under the MIT license. The README documents shell-script or manual release installation and CLI access; it does not state pricing or account requirements.
- The project describes distribution as a single binary with no runtime dependencies; the README also advertises an approximately 14 MB footprint.
- The README documents multiple LLM provider adapters and chat-channel adapters; connecting them requires configuration, details of which are not covered here.
- The security design is described as a hard baseline plus origin-based trust, with explicit permissions for external skills; review the project documentation when assessing a deployment.
- The documented stack is Rust, with a README badge indicating Rust 1.92 or newer.
- The repository is public and carries an MIT license.
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
