Practical overview
When it fits
Use Cezar when coding work benefits from parallel agent sessions, unattended VPS operation, repeatable workflows or a central project dashboard.
Who it is for
- Developers coordinating multiple AI coding tasks
- Teams or individuals managing work across several repositories
- Users who already have supported coding-agent logins
Documented uses
- Start and queue parallel coding tasks
- Give independent tasks separate Git worktrees
- Monitor agent text, tool calls, tokens and reported cost
- Build multi-step workflows from skills and checks
- Launch coding work from GitHub issues or supported project trackers
Requirements & limits
The documented quick start requires Node 20+ and at least one logged-in supported agent CLI. Cezar is open source under the MIT license and can run locally or on a VPS. The cited sources report no API availability.
- Whether your preferred agent is Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor Agent or Pi
- Whether separate Git worktrees are useful for parallel tasks
- Whether you need local or VPS/server operation
- Whether YAML workflows, scheduled automations or tracker-triggered tasks fit your process
- Whether reported token and cost views are useful for project monitoring
Check current requirements in the official documentation. Source-based guidance does not mean OpenViST has run or independently tested this project.
Start the Cezar local cockpit from a repository
Open Cezar locally and reach the task-start interface.
Before you start
- Node 20 or newer
- A repository directory
- At least one logged-in supported agent CLI: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor Agent or Pi
Steps
Change into the repository directory.
Run npx cezar-run.
Open the cockpit at http://localhost:4321.
Type a task, choose a workflow and select Start.
Expected outcome
A local Cezar cockpit is opened for starting a coding-agent task.
Guide limitations
- The documented setup does not describe task execution results or workflow configuration beyond selecting one.
- Git and gh are optional for the quick start.
Compare options for AI coding assistance
These projects document a common task and share a project role. This is a source-based comparison, not an execution benchmark or a guarantee of interchangeability.
| Project | Documented purpose | Platform | Access and requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cezar | Start and queue parallel coding tasks | Cloud, Self-hosted, Server | The documented quick start requires Node 20+ and at least one logged-in supported agent CLI. Cezar is open source under the MIT license and can run locally or on a VPS. The cited sources report no API availability. |
| Llmcode | Inspect a project's directory structure with `/tree`. | CLI | The documented setup requires an API key and supports an API base URL and model setting. The project is open source under Apache-2.0. |
| Klaat Code | Open a project directory for terminal-based coding assistance. | CLI, Server | The README provides a global npm installation command and documents browser sign-in with a KlaatAI account. It also identifies the repository as open source under Apache 2.0. |
